We practice our school yoga together.

Oh yes.

Easy pose is a great way to sit

at school.

[1:14]

I have a story.

[1:19]

And thank you for listening.

[1:24]

I went to the grocery store.

[1:27]

Yes, shopping for my healthy food.

[1:31]

I walked down one part of the store

[1:35]

and I looked on the shelf and I

[1:42]

saw something that I love so much.

[1:45]

Everybody on the shelf.

[1:49]

I saw marshmallows.

[1:53]

I don't know.

[1:55]

I just really love marshmallows.

[1:58]

And I was thinking, oh, I am taking

[2:00]

a box of these marshmallows.

[2:03]

Oh yes.

[2:06]

But before I reached over, I thought, you

[2:11]

know, Ms. Kelly, this might be a very

[2:15]

good time to pause.

[2:18]

Everybody, let's say pause.

[2:20]

Pause.

[2:22]

Pause means to stop carefully for a moment

[2:26]

and just to think carefully.

[2:30]

I thought, now, is this a good choice?

[2:37]

Are the marshmallows a good choice?

[2:43]

And of course, I know what I need

[2:46]

to do to help me make good choices.

[2:51]

So a calm breath in and a calm

[2:57]

breath out.

[2:58]

That's what I did.

[2:59]

I know this helps me to make good

[3:01]

choices.

[3:02]

Calm breathing, calm hearts.

[3:03]

I took another calm breath in and a

[3:07]

calm breath out.

[3:11]

And then with my calm breathing and calm

[3:15]

hearts, I thought to myself, okay, the good

[3:21]

choice is to go back over to the

[3:25]

fruits and vegetables and get some of those

[3:28]

delicious red apples.

[3:30]

Those are great for a snack.

[3:32]

That's what I did.

[3:34]

So everybody, please sit tall with me.

[3:36]

Hands into calm hearts.

And let's say good choices.

[3:48]

Now, calm breathing, calm hearts helps us to

[3:52]

make good choices.

[3:55]

Yes.

Like in my story, the apples.

So if we practice our calm breathing, our

[4:04]

calm hearts, we can make good choices today

[4:07]

and every day.

[4:09]

And we, of course, want to make good

[4:12]

choices in the classroom and at school because

[4:14]

it helps us to open our learning.

[4:18]

We really do have better learning when we're

[4:20]

making good choices.

[4:22]

Notice we're not going fast and just careful.

We are very calm in our mixing bowl.

[8:40]

Now, everybody, we're thinking about healthy food and

[8:43]

we're not going to just say it out

[8:45]

loud.

We're going to raise our hand.

[8:48]

Our teacher can call on us.

[8:50]

If you can think of a healthy food

[8:52]

in the mixing bowl, raise your hand.

[8:55]

Ms. Kelly will put in watermelon.
