[0:46]

Hi everybody, Miss Kelly here.

[0:49]

We practice our school yoga together.

[0:53]

Please sit in easy pose.

[0:56]

Thank you for sitting nice and tall.

[0:58]

We can focus better sitting nice and tall.

[1:00]

Hands together in our lap.

[1:04]

I have a story.

[1:06]

Thank you for listening.

[1:10]

I went to a cafe to get lunch.

[1:15]

And I arrived at the cafe, a long

[1:21]

line of people waiting.

[1:24]

Okay, I will wait with my calm breathing,

[1:28]

calm hearts.

[1:29]

I will be patient, not a problem.

[1:33]

As I was waiting patiently, I noticed that

[1:38]

the lady working at the cafe was working

[1:41]

so hard.

[1:44]

And I could see in her face that

[1:48]

she was really trying.

[1:51]

Oh, and I paused for a moment.

[1:56]

I was thinking carefully for a moment.

[2:00]

And I imagined standing in her shoes.

[2:04]

If I were working at the cafe, I

[2:08]

would really like it.

[2:09]

If people were kind to me, it would

[2:13]

make me feel better.

[2:14]

Yes.

[2:15]

So I was imagining how she might feel.

[2:19]

I decided I am going to show kindness

[2:23]

to her when I order my sandwich.

[2:26]

Yes.

[2:28]

So I ordered my veggie sandwich.

[2:30]

I made sure to say thank you, to

[2:34]

smile.

[2:36]

Also to look at her with kind, smiling

[2:40]

eyes.

[2:42]

And she also smiled, everybody.

[2:45]

It looked like she felt better.

[2:48]

And I felt wonderful because I was being

[2:51]

kind to her.

[2:53]

Please sit tall with me.

[2:55]

Hands into calm hearts, everybody.

[2:56]

Now we know that there is a word

[3:00]

that means to imagine standing in someone's shoes.

[3:07]

Think about how they're feeling and show kindness.

[3:12]

Do we remember the word?

[3:16]

Empathy.

[3:17]

Everybody, please say empathy.

[3:22]

Empathy.

[3:23]

Empathy.

[3:24]

We imagine standing in someone's shoes.

[3:27]

We think about how they might be feeling.

[3:30]

And we show kindness to them.

[3:34]

Empathy is very good.

[3:36]

No matter where we go.

[3:38]

Especially at school, but in a cafe, at

[3:41]

home, at the playground.

[3:44]

Wonderful.

[3:46]

We will learn more when we have empathy,

[3:49]

too.

[3:49]

So let's practice our calm breathing, calm hearts.

[3:54]

And we will sing our hearts are calm

[3:56]

today.

[3:58]

Hands into calm hearts, everybody.

[4:00]

Thank you.

[4:01]

Calm breath in.

[4:03]

And calm breath out.

[4:06]

And calm breath in.

[4:09]

And calm breath out.

[4:13]

[4:40]

Take our left hand.

[4:42]

Let's make a bowl of soup circle.

[4:47]

Calm breath in.

[4:49]

And calm breath out.

[4:51]

We can order a bowl of soup at

[4:53]

the cafe.

[4:54]

Calm breath in.

[4:57]

And calm breath out.

[4:58]

Very nice.

[4:59]

And again, calm breath in.

[5:03]

And calm breath out.

[5:05]

To the center, calm hearts.

[5:07]

Calm breath in.

[5:09]

Calm breath out.

[5:11]

Easy pose, sitting tall.

[5:13]

Hands on two knees.

[5:14]

Our right hand.

[5:16]

Let's make a circle like a plate.

[5:20]

Calm breath in.

[5:22]

And calm breath out.

[5:24]

We can order a plate of healthy food

[5:27]

at the cafe.

[5:29]

Make a nice, careful circle.

[5:32]

Calm breath in.

[5:34]

Eating healthy, that's what we do.

[5:36]

Calm breath out.

[5:38]

Alright.

[5:40]

Hands into calm hearts, everybody.

[5:42]

Calm breath in.

[5:44]

And calm breath out.

[5:46]

Easy pose, sitting tall.

[5:48]

Hands on two knees.

[5:50]

Let's make a circle like our eyes.

[5:54]

That smile at people.

[5:55]

We can smile with our eyes.

[5:58]

Yes, we can.

[5:59]

Let's make a tiny circle, like smiling eyes.

[6:04]

Go carefully.

[6:08]

And opposite way.

[6:10]

Calm breath in.

[6:11]

Head is back.

[6:12]

Calm breath out.

[6:14]

Head is forward.

[6:16]

Very nice.

[6:17]

To the center.

[6:18]

Calm hearts.

[6:19]

Calm breath in.

[6:21]

And calm breath out.

[6:23]

Easy pose.

[6:25]

Sitting tall.

[6:25]

Hands on two knees.

[6:26]

And shoulder circles back and around.

[6:28]

Calm breath in.

[6:31]

And calm breath out.

[6:34]

To the front.

[6:36]

Calm breath in.

[6:38]

Calm bodies.

[6:39]

Calm breath out.

[6:41]

[6:41]

To the center.

[6:43]

And how about our calm hearts overhead, please.

[6:46]

Full of empathy.

[6:49]

Calm breath in.

[6:50]

And calm breath out.

[6:53]

Good.

[6:54]

And carefully, hands are down.

[6:57]

We're going to make our favorite butterflies.

[7:00]

Please take our left leg out.

[7:02]

Remember, make room for your neighbor.

[7:04]

Right knee bent.

[7:06]

Sitting up nice and tall.

[7:08]

Hands are together.

[7:11]

Okay.

[7:12]

Our butterflies today, how about the wings are

[7:15]

orange and black?

[7:19]

And how about the color of our butterfly's

[7:22]

heart?

[7:23]

Someone choose.

[7:24]

Teacher will call on you.

[7:28]

Good.

[7:29]

Let's put something on the wings for our

[7:32]

lunch staff.

[7:34]

When we go to lunch, our lunch staff

[7:36]

at school takes care of us.

[7:38]

Let's show kindness to them.

[7:41]

And what is on the wings for the

[7:43]

lunch staff?

[7:49]

And also, let's put many smiles for the

[7:54]

lunch staff on the wings.

[7:56]

Ready?

[7:57]

Calm breath in.

[7:58]

Butterflies onto leg.

[8:00]

Calm breath out.

[8:02]

Calm breath in.

[8:03]

We're up.

[8:05]

Calm breath out.

[8:06]

We're over.

[8:07]

Good, everybody.

[8:08]

Calm breath in.

[8:10]

And calm breath out.

[8:13]

One more.

[8:14]

Calm breath in.

[8:15]

Up we go.

[8:17]

Calm breath out.

[8:18]

And over to the center.

[8:21]

Let's draw calm hearts for our lunch staff.

[8:25]

Draw one side of the calm hearts.

[8:28]

Draw other side of the calm hearts.

[8:31]

And let's put in many smiles.

[8:34]

Lots of smiles into the calm hearts.

[8:37]

Careful, careful, careful.

[8:40]

Good, everybody.

[8:41]

Calm breath in.

[8:42]

And calm breath out.

[8:46]

Change our sides.

[8:49]

Move over.

[8:50]

Give your neighbor room.

[8:52]

Right leg is out.

[8:54]

Left knee is bent.

[8:56]

Sitting up nice and tall.

[8:58]

Butterflies are ready.

[9:00]

Okay.

[9:01]

Color of our wings.

[9:03]

Color of our wings.

[9:03]

Ms. Kelly said they were orange and black.

[9:08]

Good listening.

[9:10]

Color of our butterfly's heart.

[9:12]

We said it was good listening.

[9:18]

And on the wings, this time, something for

[9:22]

all of our teaching assistants.

[9:26]

All of our TAs.

[9:29]

Anyone in the classroom who is assisting us.

[9:34]

What are we putting on the wings for

[9:36]

the TAs?

[9:42]

And let's also give them a glass of

[9:45]

lemonade.

[9:46]

Are we ready?

[9:47]

Calm breath in.

[9:48]

Up we go, butterflies.

[9:50]

Onto leg.

[9:51]

Calm breath out.

[9:52]

Calm breath in.

[9:54]

We are up.

[9:55]

Calm breath out.

[9:57]

We are over.

[9:59]

Careful.

[10:00]

Calm breath in.

[10:01]

And calm breath out.

[10:04]

One more.

[10:05]

Calm breath in.

[10:07]

And calm breath out.

[10:09]

Good.

[10:10]

To the center.

[10:12]

Alright, let's draw calm hearts for all of

[10:15]

those wonderful teaching assistants.

[10:18]

One side of calm hearts.

[10:20]

Other side of calm hearts.

[10:23]

Please place one beautiful glass of lemonade into

[10:27]

those calm hearts.

[10:28]

Calm breath in.

[10:30]

And calm breath out.

[10:34]

Good.

[10:34]

Back to easy pose.

[10:40]

Now we are going to do triangle pose.

[10:44]

You know a triangle has three sides.

[10:48]

And I know something that has three sides.

[10:53]

A slice of pizza.

[10:56]

Healthy.

[10:56]

Healthy slice of pizza.

[10:58]

So we are going to imagine that we

[11:02]

are in the shape of a slice of

[11:04]

pizza.

[11:06]

Now we need to have two healthy ingredients

[11:10]

on the pizza slice.

[11:14]

First ingredient, mushrooms.

[11:18]

Second ingredient on the pizza slice.

[11:21]

Someone raise hand.

[11:23]

Teacher will call on us.

[11:28]

Okay.

[11:29]

Now when we are in our triangle pose,

[11:33]

looking like a slice of pizza, we are

[11:38]

going to say calm hearts have empathy.

[11:46]

Ready?

[11:47]

Let's stand everybody.

[11:51]

Okay everybody.

[11:54]

Triangle pose like a slice of pizza.

[11:58]

Step one.

[12:00]

Feet go out not too far.

[12:03]

Feet are still.

[12:05]

Calm breath in.

[12:06]

And calm breath out.

[12:10]

Step two.

[12:12]

Arms go out.

[12:14]

Calm breath in.

[12:16]

And calm breath out.

[12:20]

Now step three.

[12:22]

We are going to go over not to

[12:24]

our foot but to our leg.

[12:26]

And we will say calm hearts have empathy.

[12:32]

Ready?

[12:33]

Step three.

[12:34]

Go over hand to the leg.

[12:38]

Other arm up.

[12:40]

And let's say calm hearts have empathy.

[12:47]

And again.

[12:48]

Calm hearts have empathy.

[12:54]

Come up pizza slices.

[12:58]

Calm breath in.

[13:00]

And calm breath out.

[13:03]

Other side.

[13:04]

Step one.

[13:05]

Feet are still.

[13:07]

Standing tall.

[13:08]

Calm breath in.

[13:10]

Calm breath out.

[13:12]

Step two.

[13:13]

Arms are out.

[13:15]

Calm breath in.

[13:17]

Calm breath out.

[13:18]

Remember to our leg.

[13:21]

Step three.

[13:22]

Go over hand to leg.

[13:26]

Calm hearts have empathy.

[13:33]

Calm hearts have empathy.

[13:39]

Good everybody.

[13:40]

Let's come up carefully.

[13:43]

Calm hearts together.

[13:45]

Calm breath in.

[13:46]

And calm breath out.

[13:50]

Arms and hands are down.

[13:53]

Feet come in closer.

[13:56]

Please have a seat in easy pose.

[14:06]

We practice our school meditation.

[14:10]

Yes, everyone.

[14:12]

We like to make good choices.

[14:14]

Calm brains.

[14:16]

We like to be peaceful, kind to others.

[14:20]

Calm hearts.

[14:22]

We open up great learning when we have

[14:28]

our calm breathing, calm hearts.

[14:30]

We do.

[14:32]

And we make such wonderful good choices like

[14:36]

showing empathy.

[14:38]

Yes, being kind to others.

[14:42]

Imagining how they feel.

[14:44]

So, we're going to practice our school meditation.

[14:49]

Hands into calm hearts.

[14:51]

Calm breath in.

[14:53]

And calm breath out.

[14:56]

Good again.

[14:58]

Calm breath in.

[15:00]

And calm breath out.

[15:04]

And we will say calm breathing, calm hearts.

[15:07]

Calm breath in.

[15:09]

Calm breathing.

[15:11]

Calm hearts.

[15:13]

Wonderful.

[15:15]

Calm breath in.

[15:17]

And calm breath out.

[15:21]

And calm breath in.

[15:23]

And calm breath out.

[15:27]

Good.

[15:28]

Calm breath in.

[15:31]

Calm breathing.

[15:33]

Calm hearts.

[15:36]

Calm breath in.

[15:38]

And calm breath out.

[15:42]

Calm breath in.

[15:45]

And calm breath out.

[15:48]

And calm breath in.

[15:52]

Calm breathing.

[15:54]

Calm hearts.

[15:56]

Very nice everybody.

[15:58]

Calm breath in.

[16:00]

And calm breath out.

[16:02]

Hands are down.

[16:06]

Remembering my story.

[16:09]

So I went to the cafe for lunch,

[16:14]

waiting patiently, long line.

[16:18]

And I noticed that the lady working there,

[16:21]

was she feeling good?

[16:24]

She didn't look like she was feeling so

[16:26]

good.

[16:27]

She was working so hard.

[16:30]

And I paused and I thought, hmm, let

[16:34]

me imagine standing in this lady's shoes.

[16:39]

Imagine how she might feel.

[16:43]

I think it would be really good to

[16:45]

show kindness to her.

[16:48]

Yes.

[16:49]

If I were working in the cafe, I

[16:52]

would like people to show me kindness.

[16:58]

So that is what I did.

[17:00]

I showed kindness to her.

[17:03]

Yes.

[17:05]

Hands into calm hearts.

[17:06]

Sitting up nice and tall.

[17:08]

What is our word that means to imagine

[17:11]

standing in someone's shoes and show kindness to

[17:14]

them?

[17:15]

Imagine how they feel.

[17:18]

Empathy.

[17:20]

Let's say it together.

[17:23]

Empathy.

[17:25]

We feel good when we are kind to

[17:30]

others.

[17:31]

When we have empathy.

[17:32]

And then the people around us also feel

[17:35]

good too.

[17:37]

And we have lots of great learning when

[17:42]

we have empathy at school.

[17:46]

Please lift our calm hearts if we're going

[17:48]

to have empathy for our teacher.

[17:49]

Think about how our teacher is feeling.

[17:52]

Imagine standing in his or her shoes.

[17:54]

Show kindness.

[17:57]

Lift our calm hearts if we're going to

[17:59]

have empathy for our classmates.

[18:05]

We can do it, everybody.

[18:07]

Calm breathing, calm hearts.

[18:10]

Let's end our class.

[18:11]

Calm breath in.

[18:13]

And calm breath out.

[18:15]

And calm breath out.

[18:18]

Smiling, calm hearts.

[18:22]

Thank you, everybody.

[18:25]

Smiling, calm hearts.

[18:27]

We practice our calm breathing, calm hearts every

[18:30]

day.

[18:32]

Smiling, calm hearts.

[18:35]

They open our learning.

[18:39]

See you soon, everybody.

[0:46]

Hi everybody, Miss Kelly here.

[0:50]

We practise our school yoga together.

[0:53]

Thank you for sitting in easy pose, sitting

[0:56]

up extra tall, hands together.

[1:02]

So we learned that calm breathing and calm

[1:08]

hearts help us to have empathy.

[1:13]

Everyone please take hands and calm hearts.

[1:16]

And let's say empathy.

[1:22]

Empathy means, what does it mean?

[1:25]

Oh yes, we imagine standing in someone's shoes,

[1:30]

we're imagining how they might be feeling and

[1:35]

we show kindness to them, yes.

[1:42]

And you know, there are many ways to

[1:45]

show kindness, but some very simple ways are

[1:49]

smiling.

[1:53]

And it sounds kind of silly, but smiling

[1:57]

with our eyes, yes, nice eyes.

[2:01]

Smiling with our eyes, smiling, of course, with

[2:05]

our mouth and we feel good when we're

[2:11]

showing kindness, other people also feel very good.

[2:16]

Plus we're thinking better, feeling great, thinking great,

[2:22]

and that helps us to learn.

[2:25]

So let's practise our calm breathing, calm hearts,

[2:28]

are we ready?

[2:30]

And we sing our hearts are calm today.

[2:34]

Hands into calm hearts, everybody, calm breath in

[2:38]

and calm breath out.

[2:42]

And calm breath in and calm breath out.

[2:47]

And together, calm breath in.

[3:03]

Calm breath in and calm breath out.

[3:08]

Very nice.

[3:09]

And hands are down.

[3:10]

Let's make our pattern with arms and hands.

[3:14]

Let's say our nice words together so that

[3:17]

we are focused and peaceful.

[3:19]

We are going to do and say this.

[3:24]

Calm hearts have empathy.

[3:37]

We imagine how others feel.

[3:42]

And we are kind.

[3:45]

Calm hearts have

[3:54]

empathy.

[3:59]

We imagine how others feel.

[4:04]

And we are kind.

[4:12]

Calm hearts have empathy.

[4:21]

We imagine how others feel.

[4:27]

And we are kind.

[4:30]

Good, everybody.

[4:31]

Let's practise our calm breathing, calm hearts, calm

[4:34]

breath in.

[4:36]

And calm breath out.

[4:39]

Sitting tall, calm breath in.

[4:43]

And calm breath out.

[4:46]

I see lots of smiling, wonderful, calm eyes.

[4:50]

Calm breath in.

[4:53]

And calm breath out.

[4:57]

Calm breath in.

[5:00]

And calm breath out.

[5:04]

Peaceful, calm hearts.

[5:05]

Good.

[5:06]

Calm breath in.

[5:08]

And calm breath out.

[5:12]

Two more.

[5:13]

Calm breath in.

[5:16]

Calm breath out.

[5:18]

Good, everybody.

[5:19]

Sitting tall, calm breath in.

[5:22]

And calm breath out.

[5:24]

Excellent.

[5:25]

Hands are down.

[5:29]

So, empathy starts with an E.

[5:33]

Empathy.

[5:34]

Very, very good for us.

[5:38]

And very, very good for the people around

[5:42]

us.

[5:43]

Imagining how others are feeling.

[5:46]

Imagine standing in their shoes.

[5:49]

And then what do we do?

[5:51]

We don't just imagine what they're thinking or

[5:54]

feeling.

[5:54]

Or imagine standing in their shoes only.

[5:57]

We have to do something else.

[6:01]

Show kindness.

[6:03]

Yes, yes.

[6:05]

And two very simple ways to show kindness.
